A 4 point is a specific inspection used to obtain home owners insurance in Florida. It is a brief overview of a homes roof, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Most insurance underwriters require a 4 point prior to quoting or binding home owners insurance.

Wind Mitigation inspections are used to potentially lower “in most cases substantially lower” the cost of home owners insurance in Florida. This inspection uses the OIR-B1-1802 form that was last updated April of 2026. Most of this inspection takes place in the attic. Window and door ratings are also part of a Wind Mitigation report.
